Versatile base metals?
Stainless steel, Ni superalloys, Co alloys, hardmetals, diamondtools
Vacuum / protective atmosphere friendly? No flux needed in vacuumor pure argon / dry H?
Customizable powder specs? Mesh, oxygen level, sphericity, packaging
Typical Applications
Aerospace:? turbine vanes, honeycomb seals, engine staticstructures, guide vanes
Heat exchangers:? plate-fin, stainless steel, EGR coolers, microchannel reactors
Energy / turbines:? gas turbine parts, combustor components, nuclear non-core hardware
Automotive:? turbochargers, exhaust components, stainless coolingsystems
Tooling:? diamond saw blades, grinding tools, tungsten carbideinserts
Application Notes: Vacuum or protective atmosphere brazing ismandatory. Wide gaps shall be oided to prevent brittle central-linephases. Diffusion heat treatment is recommended for criticalaerospace parts to optimize joint toughness.
Short catalog version (for product page, optional)
BNi-2 is a nickel-based vacuum brazing alloy (AWS A5.8 BNi-2,AMS4777) supplied in powder, amorphous foil and paste. With meltingrange 970–1000°C, it features excellent wettability,high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. It reliablybrazes stainless steel, Ni/Co superalloys for aerospace engineparts, heat exchangers, honeycomb structures, gas turbinecomponents and superhard cutting tools under vacuum or inertatmosphere.Rite Material
3. Key Properties
Melting range:? Solidus 971 °C (1780 °F), Liquidus 999–1000 °C(1830–1832 °F)?
Brazing temperature:? typically 1010–1175 °C (1850–2150 °F); commonproduction range 1060–1120 °C?
Narrow melting range? → good process control, less base-metaloverheating
Excellent wettability and capillary flow? in vacuum, argon, or dryhydrogen atmospheres
High joint strength? at room and elevated temperatures
Good oxidation resistance? up to ~980 °C (1800 °F)
Precautions When Using BNi-2 Brazing Powder
by Rite Material ? / Ruituomei New Materials
1. Keep the powder dry
BNi-2 contains boron and silicon. Moisture causes caking, oxidation, and gas porosity during brazing.
Store in sealed aluminum foil bags or drums
Humidity: keep low (≤45% RH recommended)
Never touch powder with bare hands — sweat and salts accelerateoxidation
Opened powder: reseal with desiccant or nitrogen; use soon
Caked or damp powder → do not use in the furnace
2. Clean the base metal first
BNi-2 flows beautifully — but only on clean surfaces.Rite Material
