the core and most critical component in a home cinema frontprojection unit has always been its light engine. image accuracy ofaprojectoris governed by the of this pieceof precision optical engineering. a delicate balance is re light engine, dlp? chipset and control electronics, inorder to optimise the performance of each. building on its heritageof high-end light engine design, sim2 developed a new innovativesystem to re-size the illumination optical path whilst maintainingboth its length (necessary for correct picture aberration control)and its compactness (required for installation and interior-designconstraints). this folded light path, patented and namedalphapath?, is the result of sim2"s advanced r&d optical andthermal analysis. perfect management of the internal light path, without any kind of scattering or thermal dispersion, is achievedby utilising a special coating on the inner surface, together withthe prisms" tir (total internal reflection) control and optimisedrelay optics. sim2 customised optical components: lenses andprisms. this combination defines the amazingcontrastratioachieved by the c3x.

the grand cinema? c3x blends outstandingsharpnessand image stability with terrific black depth andcontrast. the darkchip?3, coupled with sim2’s light engine, offersan excellent contrast of 5500:1 (typical) and image richness: itpaints an inky blackness, colours are stunning, each shade drenchedin eye-catching opulence.progressive scansupportfrom any incoming signal is provided by the latest deinterlacer andvideo enhancer. sometimes meeting customers" needs is as simple asbuilding the right product.

for ease of installation, the projector sports the supremeflexibility of two, new spurious particles-free, high glasslens options, namely t1 (optional lens with short throw ratio:1,5-2:1) and t2 (standard lens with long throw ratio: 2-3:1),making it possible to project an immaculate image on a bigscreen.

the grand cinema? c3x is an exceptionally flexible projector, designed to optimise lamp efficiency and lifetime. for those who donot require the higherbrightnessof the c3x and c3xlink models, sim2 has developed the c3x lite projector that ise with a lower powered lamp (150w - dimmable to 132w) and asimplified version of the alphapath? light engine. the grandcinema? c3x series has also been designed to minimise lampmaintenance operations: a detachable lamp case eases replacement ofthe lamp. just extract the lamp case holder from the base of theprojector and replace it with a new one: an activity that any sim2customer service centre can carry out.

accurate thermal and fluid-dynamics analysis has been carriedout by sim2 r&d to design the grand cinema? c3x lite, avoidinglight spill and overheating of the light path. the cooling fan"sintake and exhaust are on the unit’s side, a special “auto”function allows the grand cinema? c3x lite to adapt and optimisethe speed of the fans depending on the external room temperature.therefore, fan activity can be minimised, reducingnoiselevel.

the grand cinema? c3x lite adopts the hd2+ darkchip?3, commonlyreferred to as the dc3 chip. the dc3 chip embraces a series ofrefinements aimed at enhancing performance, including a lightabsorbent coating on its rear to boost contrast and colouruniformity. the surface of the chip is flatter and morereflective than its predecessors, while smaller mirror hinges andcloser mirror spacing help to reduce thepixelstructure and increase brightness. dlp? technologycomes closer than any other display solution to reproducing theexact mirror image of itssourcematerial without thepixellation or "screen door" effect apparent in other technologies.also, while most other technologies lose a certain amount of lightin transit, the microscopic mirrors in a dlp?projectionsystemdeliver more light from lamp to screen.

for many, the cabinet design of a product is almost as importantas its performance, particularly when it will be placed in themiddle of a living room. the grand cinema? c3x lite is elegance atits best; a projector that deserves to be placed on view. featuringa new, more aggressive design, its smooth curves are in trend withprevious grand cinema? models and are easy on the eye. no need toconceal it; the grand cinema? c3x lite can be happily left out inthe room where it is guaranteed to attract envious praise fromvisiting friends.
