粉末涂料是一種含有 固體分、以粉末形態(tài)、利用靜電吸附涂裝的涂料，主要由樹脂、固化劑、顏料、填料和助劑等組成，它與一般溶劑型涂料和水性涂料不同，不是使用溶劑或水作為分散介質(zhì)，而是借助于空氣作為分散介質(zhì)。因此，粉末涂料有機溶劑（VOC）等于零，既節(jié)省了大量資源，又避免了有機溶劑光化學(xué)反應(yīng)和毒性所造成的大氣污染，也避免了廢水處理等問題，是符合環(huán)境保護要求的理想的涂料品種。

按粉末涂料成膜物質(zhì)的固化機理或固化方式分類，有熱塑型、熱固型、輻射固化、輻-熱雙重固化。

按照粉末涂料的用途分類，主要有裝飾性涂料和功能性涂料。裝飾性粉末涂料可形成平面、木紋、砂紋、皺紋、皮紋、金屬閃爍、漸變色、多色花、透明等各種不同紋理和特殊效果，其中平面型涂料可以有標(biāo)準(zhǔn)、無光、消光、平光、高光等不同光澤度效果；功能性粉末涂料主要有聚酯、富鋅、耐候、超耐候、氟碳（PVDF）、防菌型、自清潔、隔熱、耐高溫、防靜電和阻燃等各種不同功能效果。
